The dresser is solid western red cedar. The drawers and the door fronts are “pillowed”, meaning they are gently tapered from the middle to the edge, giving them a softer look, similar to a pillow, for a distinctive appearance. This item is one-of-a-kind. It is completely hand made, using only non-power hand tools and crafted of solid cedar and with pine drawer sides and bottoms. The case assembly uses mortises, dovetails and rabbets. The sides are fitted to the top and bottom with dovetails. The drawers are dovetailed front and back with solid pine sides and bottoms. Knobs on the drawers are hand made of oak and walnut. The back is tongue and groove construction. All hardware is solid brass. The inside back is finished with satin white paint, the back with flat black paint. The dresser sits on a Redwood base. The entire dresser has 5 coats of hand rubbed finish. The drawer interiors are left natural. All hardware on the piece is brass.
