This bookcase was milled, joined and crafted using only hand tools and traditional wood joinery. The case and fronts are hand crafted from sustainable redwood. It is joined at the top with dovetails and the shelves and drawer housings are pinned into the side of the case with rabbets for the top and with through mortise and tenons for the bottom.  All the drawers are dovetailed with pine sides, solid wood bottoms and custom turned walnut knobs. The back is hand worked tongue and groove made from solid pine, finished in several coats of matte black with a final coat of dead flat overcoat. The screws for the back are brass. The entire cabinet is finished with 5 coats of hand-rubbed finished with a final beeswax polish.
