Image is of a solid redwood bookcase. The case is about 30" tall and 64" wide. It has two shelves for books and there is a smaller compartment on the top which has two small drawers in it. The inside back of the case is painted flat-black. The case is held together entirely with traditional wood joinery using hand tools. The bookcase was designed and built by Marc Springer a woodworker and furniture maker in the Los Angeles area specializing in traditional furniture making.

This bookcase is made from solid redwood. This item is one-of-a-kind. It is completely hand made, using only non-power hand tools. The upper set of drawers are dovetailed front and back with pine sides and bottoms. The drawer interiors are left natural. The drawer knobs are hand turned walnut. The case sides are fitted to the top with dovetails and the bottom with through mortises.  The back is hand tongue and grooved. All hardware is solid brass. The inside and the back is painted with flat black paint.  The entire bookcase  has 5 coats of hand rubbed oil/varnish finish.
